Sabbath: Beltane - May 1, 2014
Humans call it May Day, but Witches call it Beltane. One of the four major sabbats out of eight that are celebrated throughout the year.
For witches, this sabbath represents fertility and passion. It is also called the Festival of Fire, for where there is fire, there is passion. The early spring showers have given way to a fertile Earth where seeds begin to germinate and animals seek their mate. Passion can mean many things, both good and bad. Though it can be a time of extreme promiscuity and sexual attraction, fueled by lust, it can also intensify true feelings of love.
Today, like every May Day, there will be bonfires lit throughout the town celebrating the Goddess and the Earth. Many witches will have bonfires in their backyards as the night will be illuminated with embers of red and orange. Love and fertility spells/potions will be most potent if performed tonight. But always heed the Wiccan Rede and be careful of what you wish for…
Calling all witches and supernaturals! What will your character seek to sow for Beltane? Will they stare into the passionate flames of fire and call seek out an unaware lover? Or will they be victim of the Beltane lust? As a witch, you have the option for your character to cast a fertility/love/passion spell on themselves or another. As a vampire, werewolf, or human, you have the opportunity to plot with a fellow witch to either help or curse your character. This is an excellent opportunity for character development as well as plot development! This is an optional writing task. You are welcome to do this in neatchat or other messaging medium but make sure you post it on the dash afterwards.
